Dual action auto detalingpolisher get their name from the two independent movements the machine produces. The head rotates on the central main axis and then rotates itself. This creates a slight "shaky" motion that feels a little weird when you first use it. However, thanks to the counterweight, it doesn't wiggle from side to side. Dithering is actually very useful - it acts as a safety mechanism to prevent overheating and burning that can occur with a rotary polisher.
The DA polisher is also super safe because the mechanism's housing contains a failsafe. If you press too hard, the pads will stop spinning and instead vibrate, which means you won't damage your car's paint - even if you do try! Even better, because it stops working under too much stress, you are forced to use the correct amount while you work, guaranteeing great results!
Now, the DA polisher is designed to be used by anyone. You might think machines are a scary prospect, but these are really easy to use. They will take care of all surface damage to your paint. However, if your paint has deep scratches, it will need to be treated with a rotary polisher. These are harder to use and you can get it wrong and do a lot of damage. So if you're thinking about rotary polisher, make sure to get some expert help.
Now that we know what we have in our hands, let's get started!
Before you start, remember to avoid direct sunlight. This gives you maximum protection and lubrication - not just with this polisher, but with general cleaning, waxing and polishing products.
Step 1: Add four small dots of DA polish to a fresh microfiber pad on the DA polisher. Now set the machine to speed 2.
Step 2: Take a small section of the car body - say 2 feet by 2 feet. Now place the mat over the paint of the car. Do this before turning on the machine so you don't throw polish all over the place! Now go through the section completely at speed 2. It's just a lightweight pass - remember you don't need to apply pressure.
Step 3: Now that you have applied the DA polish evenly to the painted part, let's increase the power. Change the setting to speed 4 and return to the surface. This time, a cross-hatch pattern was used to ensure complete coverage and maneuverability of the entire surface. Take your time and remember: you don't need to press down. Unlike other leveling products, you won't kick up any dust, so you should start seeing results as you work.
Step 4: After three of the four passes in this cross-hatch pattern, you'll need to wipe the surface before giving it another look. So, find a really good, clean microfiber towel—ours are perfect for that—and wipe down the panel. When you inspect the paint, you should be able to notice the difference; no oxidation marks, no swirls or stains, and a shinier, smoother finish. Just compare that part to the part of the car you haven't finished yet - it should look brighter and smoother!
Step 5: Go ahead and repeat these steps throughout the vehicle. DA polishers are great, so this shouldn't take too long. If desired, you can make two passes in the same area, provided that the area is a particularly swirling or dull part of the vehicle. You will not cause any harm!
And that’s it! After 30-45 minutes, you should have a beautifully polished vehicle ready for the New Year! So work safely and remember: enjoy the process!
